This was the construction of a 32 Bed Care Home constructed over two floors. The building was constructed using traditional methods of masonry cavity walls with insulation in the cavity, precast concrete floors, timber roof trusses and concrete tiles.
The site was a long narrow site with little space left between the building footprint and the boundary. This restricted access and scaffold space required the building to be constructed from the rear working out towards the entrance to the site. This sequence of working required extensive planning and programming to construct the works.
This facility provided en-suite bedrooms and a number of self-contained flats. The flats consisted of a bedroom en-suite bathroom and open plan lounge and kitchen area.
The building was centrally heated via underfloor heating which was powered by a Biomass boiler that was located externally to the building.
It was situated in a location that facilitated the delivery of pellets without disruption to the residents
The best use of the limited space externally accommodates extensive landscaping and staff and visitor parking. There are a number of patio and seating areas around the building and a number of raised planter beds that are accessible to the residents.
