This project was the Design and Construction of a 32 Bed Care Facility on Windsor Road Falkirk on the site of an Ambulance Depot that was demolished by others prior to our possession of the site.
This was a very tight site with restricted access around the building making the construction process costly and requiring an extended period to construct. As part of VE exercise, we proposed minor alterations to the building footprint and the location within the site which made the project viable in terms of cost.
The existing ground conditions required a combination of piling and trench fill and the construction of retaining walls to support reinforced concrete foundations.
The building was constructed using traditional methods of block cavity walls supporting precast concrete floors, timber trusses and concrete tiled pitched roofs.
The building provided 4 self-contained 1-bedroom apartments and 28 ensuite bedrooms with dining rooms day rooms and ancillary treatment rooms and offices and staff accommodation.
A full Mechanical and Electrical installation including underfloor heating lifts, nurse call system and sprinkler system was provided.
The building was decorated and fitted out to a high standard considering design features required within a building caring for those with dementia.
The existing site levels required a cut and fill exercise to provide barrier free access and to form the seating and landscaped areas.
